Pharmacist Day 2021
Over the years, the role of Pharmacists have shifted from a primary role of dispensing medication, to becoming an integral member of the healthcare team directly involved with the care of patients. Today, for National Pharmacists Day, we recognize our Medical Professionals who assist various Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana patients during their journey with this alternative medication; as they monitor the health and progress of patients, and ensure their safe and effective use of medication.
On today’s blog, we want to highlight two Pharmacists in particular that have been assisting patients of this program for 5+ years combined…
Becky M. is a licensed pharmacist with a B.S. in Biology and Doctorate in Pharmacy from Temple University. Her community practice expertise includes medication therapy management, community outreach, retail management, immunizations, and travel health. She has been a cannabis pharmacist in practice at TerraVida Holistic Centers for the past three years where she consults with new and existing patients to create personalized treatment plans. Her focus is on providing exceptional patient care and educating patients, medical professionals, dispensary staff, and community groups on the optimal uses of medical cannabis. Practicing as a pharmacist at TerraVida and hearing so many life-changing patient stories over the past 3 years has been one of the most rewarding experiences of her career.
Sharon J. grew up in a small independent corner pharmacy. As a small child, she would sit on the counter, watching the Pharmacists compound medications for the patients in need of relief from their various ailments. This is when she discovered her love of healing and helping. Throughout most of her career she worked for independent pharmacies, with a stint in the mail-order and long-term care sections. When Pennsylvania passed ACT 16, she saw how medical marijuana changed, not only her own life, but the lives of her loved ones. Being a part of this industry allows her to live by her personal motto of paying it forward!
